CONNECT · COMMUNICATION & CONFLICT

Say what matters without losing yourself in the conversation.

Prepare difficult conversations, communicate more clearly, understand conflict patterns and decide what to do when communication alone is not enough.

COMMUNICATION IS A TWO-PERSON PROCESS

You can communicate well and still receive a difficult response.

Clear wording can help you express yourself, but no script can make another person listen, take responsibility, respect a boundary or behave safely.

The goal is not to find the perfect words. It is to understand what you need to say, communicate it as clearly as you can, and pay attention to what happens next.

A GROUNDED CONVERSATION

Prepare before you speak.

A little preparation can help you stay connected to your own thinking when the conversation becomes emotional.

01

Clarify

Identify the issue, its impact, what you want and what is not negotiable.

02

Regulate

Pause until you can communicate without losing access to your own thinking.

03

Communicate

Describe specific behaviour, make a clear request and avoid explaining endlessly.

04

Observe

Notice whether the response brings curiosity, accountability, blame, shutdown or retaliation.

SOMETHING TO REMEMBER
The response to your communication gives you information too.

A healthy conversation is not measured only by how carefully you speak. Notice whether the other person can engage with the issue without punishing you for raising it.
