Coping Pattern Check-In

When discomfort rises, most of us reach for something. This check-in helps you notice the strategy you tend to use, what it may be trying to do for you and whether it still helps.

NOTICE WITHOUT JUDGING

What do you tend to do when things feel difficult?

Choose anything that feels familiar. You may use different coping patterns in different situations. This is about noticing, not labelling yourself.

Coping strategies often begin because they work in some way — they reduce discomfort, create distance, restore control or help us get through something. The question is whether they still support you now.

YOUR COPING CHECK-IN

These patterns may be trying to help.

A coping pattern is not a character flaw. It is often a strategy your system learned because it reduced discomfort or helped you get through something.

A useful question to take with you

Instead of asking, “Why do I keep doing this?” try asking, “What is this strategy trying to help me avoid, control, reduce or protect?”

Save this check-in.

Keep your selected coping patterns in My Dashboard so you can return to them later.

The goal is not to remove every coping strategy.

It is to have enough awareness and choice that you can notice when a strategy is helping, when it is costing you and when another option might fit better.
